PIHE

Our association thinks it is important for young people to be involved in the new opportunities that arise from the fact that Romania is part of the European Union, opportunities like international youth exchanges, trainings and conferences and assuming volunteer roles.

With this in mind, these are our goals:

  • organizing European Youth Exchanges;
  • sending young people to participate in European Youth Exchanges;
  • sending young people to participate in volunteer work or in vocational trainings;
  • organizing cultural and leisure events for young people;
  • training group leaders, enhance non-formal education in the region

PIHE has experience in projects, focused on road safety and young people through its participation in the Local Innovative adVentures to Ensure quality in youth road Safety promotion (LIVES) project. Our motivation to take part in the IMPACT project is to add new experience, coming from Europe, Asia and Latin America to the preventive interventions in the road safety field for our target group. Furthermore we are interested in joining the project to contribute to a reduction in road crashes and road crash injuries in Romania. Romania is one of the poorest performing countries in Europe in terms of road safety (2377 road traffic fatalities registered in 2010 according with WHO). PIHE decided to join the project because it believes IMPACT will contribute to improve road safety in Romania through new and innovative methods to approach the problem and will strengthen the overall safety of young people in the country and the region. It believes this project will contribute to achieving the road traffic crash and injury objectives of the Romanian government. IMPACT will also provide us with the opportunity to acquire new innovative youth-friendly technologies (driving simulator) for attracting and keeping young people"s interest and attention, which will raise the quality of our activities in Romania to the European level of our partners and will allow us to positively influence our target group in the most contemporary way.
