iRED

The "Open Youth Institute for Research Education and Development" (iRED, formerly "Open Youth") is non-profit non-governmental organization. Its aim is to support the formal, the informal and the vocational education; to use and disseminate good practices; to fight the negative social phenomenon in the present society. Regarding the aim of the organization, iRED members are working in the areas of various activities such as research, awareness-raising, citizens" rights protection, voluntary service, seminars, conferences, publications.

The organization has an extensive experience in working both on small and large scale projects, involving young people on the topic of road safety. Good examples of our completed projects and campaigns are: "Local Innovative adVentures to Ensure quality in youth road Safety promotion" (LIVES, 6 countries, 161 trained volunteers, 4525 participants), "Unveiling European Union citizenship rights through Powerful messages, Developed in Attractive Technological Environment" (UPDATE, 4 countries, 105 trained volunteers, 2845 participants), "Actions Corresponding to the creativeness and local Opportunities in Road safety Development" (ACCORD, 4 countries (incl. China), 62 trained volunteers, 1333 participants), "European night without accident"; "Choose your way" campaign / "Volunteer! … through road safety" project (VRS, 4 youth workers, 12 cities, 124 young volunteers, 2114 participants); "City angels" campaign / Citi-Zen project (3 teams of 2 youth workers each, 4 cities, 2067 participants); "Road safety in action" project / "Drive responsibly" campaign 2011 (3 youth workers, 6 cities, 64 young volunteers, 1414 participants). Currently we work in the "ROad safety in South East European regions" project.

iRED is an active member of the European Youth Forum for Road Safety. We have received Bulgarian Annual Road Safety Awards for 2011 and 2012. We are signatories of the "European Road Safety Charter" and the "European Youth Declaration for Road Safety".
